Health and Safety Lead – Building Safety
London
£54,765 - £57,648 per year plus Company car or car allowance
35 hours per week – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm
We are seeking a Health and Safety Lead – Building Safety to join our team based in East London. This job sits within the Building Safety department which is responsible for ensuring that the Group meets all new and existing legislative and regulatory requirements with regard to building safety.
The role of Health and Safety Lead – Building Safety will include:
- Acting as the H&S lead for Building Safety providing colleagues, managers and staff with clear guidance and practical advice on Building control and other related issues
- Conducting in-depth, legally sound and supportive H&S audits across the High Rise Buildings portfolio providing excellent levels of follow up support to operational and property managers to address any identified areas of non-conformance
- Liaising with senior management teams across the business to ensure that all sites within a designated region have priority based H&S audits conducted within agreed time frames
- Identifying and analyse H&S non-conformance and accident / incident trends in a designated region and take the appropriate actions to rectify and or mitigate them, while cascading this information back to the Senior H&S management team and other stakeholders
- Maintaining sufficient knowledge and awareness of H&S related legislation, established good practice and procedures and regulatory changes to continue to provide high quality, authoritative advice and assistance to the Group and its stakeholders
Skills and experiences:
- To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to NEBOSH National Diploma - Construction or NEBOSH National General Certificate, Degree, HND or HNC in Construction or Management or currently undertaking the qualification. As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring with them the original certification verifying proof of their qualifications. Copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted.
- Comprehensive experience in a similar Health and Safety role within the housing and/or construction sector
- Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, Building Control legislation, and current best practice
- Proven experience in producing legally astute accident investigations and undertaking audits and inspections in housing or construction settings
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
- Proven experience of managing staff and developing a high performing team
