Kilter's Working Structure
As we have team members working in different time zones, Kilter is predominantly a remote organisation. We have a London office for the UK team to work from whenever they need to and the UK team work from there roughly 1 day a week. We have regular team lunches and an annual offsite so there are various opportunities to catch up with colleagues in person.
The Investment team plan to be in the office around 3 days a week during the induction period of this position, to support the apprentice as they settle into their new role.
The Role
To support Kilter’s growth, they are looking to hire an Actuarial Apprentice to support the Investment team. The person in this role will report to the Investment Vice President and work closely with the 2 Investment Associates and the Investment Analyst. The Investment Apprentice will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience by supporting the Investment Team in the provision of Professional Services to other group companies as it relates to the advising and arrangement of investments.
The two key pillars of the Professional Services the Investment Apprentice will be involved in are:
- Financial diligence: The detailed assessment of the financial position of a company into which the Kilter group’s external clients may or have invested.

Skills Required
The ideal candidate will be highly personable and able to approach their role with enthusiasm and high-energy. They must be willing and able to learn quickly, and have the ability to function equally well in a team setting and on a self-directed basis. As this role combines work and study, they must be able to juggle multiple deadlines with their workload independently.
As Kilter employees are based in various working locations and UK employees do not have mandated office days, the candidate must also be comfortable working remotely.

- Maths A level with a minimum predicted grade B
- 2 additional A levels with minimum predicted grades A*-C
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and grammatically correct written content

Apprenticeship Scheme Details
The course provider for Kilter’s Actuarial Apprenticeship will be BPP (Level 4 Actuarial Technician Apprenticeship - BPP). The course is run remotely, so classes are virtual and access to all study materials will be distributed online. Students will have access to a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) where they can reach out to other students during the course.
Each student will also have a BPP coach assigned to them who will support them in their studies alongside their Kilter line manager. BPP have their own induction period for apprentices to be introduced to their course coach and discuss study plans. They will also have several opportunities to meet their coach to review the course progress.
As this apprenticeship involves a combination of work and study, the course structure is flexible to help students balance both sides of the role and takes around 2 years to complete. Apprentices are entitled to a set number of study hours during the working week, to help balance their responsibilities and ensure they are successful. Kilter also has a flexible working model and would allow additional study time to help meet assessment deadlines where necessary.
The assessment process for the level 4 apprenticeship is a combination of exams and practical assessments. The End Point Assessment (EPA) consists of a case study task, followed by a Q&A discussion with a moderator and a further interview with an independent assessor.
At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to complete the level 7 Actuary Apprenticeship to then qualify as an Actuary.
