The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support the learning and development of children in nursery and reception classes
Assist in delivering structured and play-based activities
Support children with additional needs, including SEN and EAL
Observe, monitor, and record children’s progress, providing feedback to class teachers
Encourage independence, curiosity, and confidence in young learners
Prepare classroom resources and assist with daily routines
You will also assist in outdoor learning, creative play, and school trips, maintaining a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one activities
Delivering play-based and structured learning experiences under teacher guidance
Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
Maintaining classroom routines and organisation
Preparing and organising learning resources
Monitoring and documenting children’s progress
Supporting children with SEN, EAL, or other additional needs
Participating in staff meetings, training, and school initiatives
Assisting with school trips, extracurricular activities, and events
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience working with children aged 3–5
Understands early years pedagogy and child development principles
Is patient, nurturing, and empathetic
Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills
Can support children with SEN or EAL effectively
Brings creativity and enthusiasm to play-based learning
Is adaptable and flexible in a busy classroom
Builds positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Has a genuine passion for early years education
