Overview

The Salesforce, Azure DevOps Lead is a pivotal role within a technology-driven organization, responsible for orchestrating the seamless integration and continuous delivery of Salesforce solutions through Azure DevOps.

The ideal candidate will possess good understanding of Salesforce architecture, development, and deployment methodologies, alongside expert proficiency in Azure DevOps, GitHub or Copado tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.

This leadership position requires the candidate to be an independent thinker, good communicator, and hands-on technical expert who can bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring efficient and scalable delivery of Salesforce projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • DevOps Strategy & Leadership
  • Establish and lead the DevOps vision for Salesforce, projects by leveraging Azure DevOps best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce releases, ensuring rapid, reliable, and repeatable deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Salesforce developers, solution architects, QA engineers, and business stakeholders—to align DevOps processes with organizational goals.
  • Mentor and coach DevOps engineers and Salesforce development teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Technical Implementation

Design, build, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce using Azure DevOps, Git, and related technologies.

Automate code build, test, and deployment processes for Salesforce metadata, Apex code, Lightning components, and integrations.

Manage source code repositories, branching strategies, and release management in line with best practices for Salesforce and Azure DevOps integrations.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in the release pipeline, ensuring minimal disruptions and maximum efficiency.

Implement robust security controls, access management, and compliance measures within the DevOps ecosystem.

Collaboration & Communication

Provide regular updates, progress reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and project stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for Salesforce DevOps processes, continuously seeking opportunities for optimization and automation.

Utilize monitoring and analytics tools to proactively identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and potential risks within CI/CD pipelines.

Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address issues related to deployments or platform integrations.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and support procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in DevOps roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Salesforce deployment, and environment management.
  • Proven experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, boards, repos, artifacts, and integrations with other Azure services.
  • Proficiency in managing Salesforce metadata, source control (Git), and release management tools such as Gearset, Copado, or similar.
  • Experience in implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration, regression) for Salesforce applications.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, access controls, and compliance frameworks relevant to DevOps and Salesforce environments.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Good problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
