Finance Director to Smartech // London

Now, together with Oddwork, we’re on the lookout for a dynamic Finance Director to take full ownership of our finance function and lead our team into its next transformative chapter. About the role as Finance Director
This is a high-impact, on-site role based at our office in London, where you’ll steer the strategic and operational direction of our finance department. Leading a dedicated in-house team of six (including accounting, payroll, treasury, and business development roles), your mission is to drive compliance, structure, and profitability while fostering engagement and collaboration across the department. You will work closely with HR and report directly to the CEO/Managing Director.
A selection of your responsibilities includes:
Leading and developing the finance team (6 people)
Owning budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management
Ensuring compliance with accounting, tax, and legal obligations
Providing strategic financial insights to the CEO and management
Overseeing contracts, payroll, and internal financial controls
Driving improvements in processes, systems, and structure
About you
You’re a confident and experienced finance leader, ready to steer a team through change and growth. With a hands-on approach and a sharp strategic mind, you know how to unite people, simplify complexity, and spot both risks and opportunities before they appear.
With a proven track record in accounting and restructuring, you bring clarity and structure to every part of the financial function from forecasting and compliance to digital transformation. At Smartech, you’ll be the voice of reason in a company that thrives on innovation and the architect of how finance supports our next chapter.
10+ years in senior financial leadership, ideally within retail or fast-paced international environments
Proven record in accounting and ERP systems (certified in Xero)
Experience leading finance teams through periods of change and building structure
Excellent communication, integrity, and the resilience to stay sharp under pressure
