SEN Teaching Assistant role:

A community led SEN secondary school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged students. These students all have a diagnosis of ASD and complex needs. You will be joining a dedicated team of professionals who work closely with the primary students to ensure their educational goals are met.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Job:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged students with severe learning needs (SLD) and ASD. You will provide one-on-one support, helping students engage with their learning and develop independence, literacy and mathematics skills.

  • Pupils from Lewisham and across surrounding areas who attend this school are offered a broad and balanced curriculum, that is tailored around an extensive knowledge of their learning difficulties and tailored to them.
  • Support and training offered every week to further develop your knowledge and skills as an SEN teaching assistant for children with varied needs.
  • You will be working with skilled Teachers and SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant's in a classroom environment

The SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
  • Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons
  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
  • Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment

The SEN Teaching Assistant Applicant
