Welbeck Developments delivers high-quality private healthcare construction projects that support world-class clinical services across the Welbeck network. The department works closely with clinical stakeholders, operational leaders, consultants, and specialist contractors to ensure projects are planned and delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with both commercial objectives and patient-focused outcomes. About the role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the commercial management of healthcare construction projects, overseeing cost control from early feasibility through to final account. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest professional and regulatory standards.
Working closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and senior stakeholders, you will provide clear financial leadership, robust commercial advice, and effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle. The role also includes mentoring junior quantity surveyors and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a complex construction environment, takes ownership of commercial outcomes, and values quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
Prepare, manage, and control project budgets to ensure financial success
Lead the negotiation, preparation, and administration of construction contracts
Produce accurate cost estimates, feasibility studies, and financial reports
Identify commercial and contractual risks and implement mitigation strategies
Provide regular financial reporting, forecasts, and cost-to-completion updates
Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining quality and compliance
Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, providing technical guidance
Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and legal requirements
Oversee the preparation, agreement, and submission of final accounts

About you
You are an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction cost management, ideally within complex or regulated environments. You bring a strategic mindset, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to lead commercial discussions with senior stakeholders.
You are comfortable managing multiple projects, negotiating contracts, and resolving commercial challenges, while maintaining high standards of governance and compliance. A natural mentor and collaborator, you communicate clearly, work proactively, and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes.
