Senior Manager, Alternatives - Global Fund Services
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Alternatives - Global Funds Services. This role sits at the heart of HSBC Global Asset Management’s Alternatives platform. You’ll lead the governance, oversight and commercial management of strategic third-party providers (including AIFMs, fund administrators, transfer agents and custodians) supporting our private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and hedge fund offering. Working closely with Alternatives, Operations, Procurement, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Product teams, you’ll ensure partners deliver against contractual, operational, regulatory and client-servicing expectations, while helping drive adoption of the global target service model alongside strong BAU delivery.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you’ll:
- Own the governance, oversight and performance management of third-party Alternatives service providers, ensuring delivery against contractual SLAs, KPIs and client service expectations.
- Lead commercial oversight across provider relationships, including pricing, contract performance, service economics, scalability and strategic partnership management.
- Partner with the Head of Global Fund Services (Alternatives) to drive adoption of the global target service model, including operating model implementation and organisational change programmes.
- Ensure all applicable regulatory obligations are met (including local laws and substance requirements) and proactively support regulatory change impacting the operating model.
- Strengthen the control environment by identifying, managing and reducing operational risks while supporting significant service and/or operating model changes.
- Drive effective governance routines and timely closure of actions, while improving efficiency through automation and appropriate use of offshore processing.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrable track record in Asset Management Operations is essential. Any additional experience of covering Alternatives (private markets and/or hedge funds) would be desirable.
- Strong third-party governance capability, with proven experience overseeing administrators, custodians, transfer agents, AIFMs and other strategic service partners.
- Commercial and contract management expertise, including pricing, negotiation support, and the ability to assess service economics and value for money.
- Sound understanding of operational risk, controls and regulatory expectations within a UK/EU asset management context, with confidence navigating audits and reviews.
- Proven success in delivering transformation and operating model change while maintaining high-quality BAU service delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, able to influence across Operations, Alternatives, Procurement, Legal, Risk, Compliance and Finance, and to role-model an inclusive “one team” culture.
