Interim Repairs and Maintenance Manager
South London Hybrid Working (3 days on site, 2 from home) Up to 500 per day (Umbrella)
A South London local authority is looking for an experienced Repairs & Maintenance Manager to lead the delivery of responsive repairs, planned maintenance and contractor performance across a diverse property portfolio.
This is a key leadership role managing maintenance contracts worth several million pounds, overseeing a team of surveyors and officers, and ensuring properties remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose. The council is investing heavily in improving operational performance and resident satisfaction, making this an excellent opportunity to drive meaningful change.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing responsive repairs and maintenance services
- Overseeing contractors, compliance and service delivery performance
- Leading planned and cyclical maintenance programmes
- Budget management, procurement and contract oversight
- Driving service improvements through KPIs and performance management
- Managing and developing technical teams
- Ensuring statutory compliance and health & safety obligations are met
You'll ideally have:
- Strong housing or local authority repairs experience
- Contract management and budget responsibility
- Experience leading teams and driving operational improvements
- Good stakeholder management skills
- Relevant surveying, construction or property qualifications desirable
