VP, Innovation and Digital Partnerships Strategy Execution
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are seeking a VP, Innovations and Digital Partnerships Strategy Execution. We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded professional to join the team as VP, Innovation & Partnerships Strategy Execution. Reporting directly to the Head of Innovation and Digital Partnerships, this role exists to turn strategy into delivery – both for the bank's Group AI programme and for the IDP function as a whole.
The primary focus of the role is end-to-end programme management of the Leveraging Strategic Partnerships workstream, which is IDP's contribution to the Group AI programme. The role is accountable for the plan, milestones, dependencies, risks, reporting and governance of that workstream, and for representing it credibly to the wider programme and to senior stakeholders across the bank.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role, you will:
- Leveraging Strategic Partnerships workstream: Own the programme management of IDP's partnerships workstream feeding the Group AI programme – building and maintaining the plan, milestones, dependencies, RAID log and financials, and ensuring the workstream delivers against the commitments made into the wider programme.
- Programme governance and reporting: Run the governance and reporting cycle for the workstream – preparing status reporting, steering and programme board submissions, and ensuring a single, accurate and timely view of progress, risk and value is available to the Group AI programme and to IDP leadership.
- Cross-workstream integration: Act as IDP's interface into the Group AI programme, managing dependencies with other workstreams, escalating blockers, and ensuring partnership commitments, timelines and benefits are reflected consistently in the overall programme view.
- Strategy development and execution: Support the Head of IDP in shaping and refreshing the function's strategy – conducting analysis, developing options and recommendations, translating agreed direction into objectives, roadmaps and measurable outcomes, and tracking delivery against them.
- Operating rhythm and governance: Run the operating rhythm for the Head of IDP and the leadership team – setting agendas, preparing materials, capturing decisions and actions, and driving follow-through to closure.
- Team effectiveness and organisational health: Support the Head of IDP on organisational and team matters, including onboarding, colleague engagement, internal communications, capability planning and cultural initiatives that sustain a high-performing global team.
- Special initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives and analyses on behalf of the Head of IDP where dedicated focus is required, from framing the problem through to a decision-ready recommendation and implementation.
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:
- Programme management: Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programmes or workstreams in a large organisation – planning, dependency and risk management, governance, and reporting into senior programme structures.
- Strategic analysis: Ability to structure ambiguous problems, conduct rigorous analysis, and develop clear, decision-ready recommendations for a senior audience.
- Executive communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with demonstrable experience producing materials for executive and Board-level audiences.
- Stakeholder engagement: Strong grasp of engaging with diverse stakeholders, covering business, technology and external partnerships, to align innovation efforts with bank priorities.
- AI: Working knowledge of artificial intelligence and its practical application in financial services – sufficient to engage credibly with technical colleagues and strategic partners, and to translate technical progress into business terms.
- Partnerships: Understanding of how strategic technology and AI partnerships are structured, governed and commercially realised within a large, regulated organisation.
- Strategic: Proven track record in translating strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
- Entrepreneurship mindset – able to operate in an evolving environment as the organization gets further developed and defined, recognizing that we will need to specialize as we mature.
- Trusted, discreet and credible, with the judgement required to operate on behalf of a senior leader on confidential and sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering in fast-moving environments with competing priorities and shifting deadlines.
- Comfortable interacting with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including Product teams, Regulators, Industry/Trade Groups, strategic partners and HSBC senior leadership (i.e., GEC, Board, etc.).
- Highly competent, collaborative, and outcome-oriented, with a strong ability to drive results and navigate complex challenges.
- Tenacious and committed to delivering necessary outcomes in alignment with HSBC's mission and purpose.
- A strong focus on customer and teammate needs, with a dedication to serving and supporting them in achieving their goals.
Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
