About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF GABRIEL’S INSIGHT

Public Health in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where ambitious individuals work together to solve the issues our young people face.

Gabriel’s can-do attitude got him to where he is now. It was his colleague, Kath, who encouraged him to apply for a data analyst secondment while working in our HR team, having started with the council in the Contact Centre. Gabriel was enrolled on a data apprenticeship that the council offered after finding that university wasn’t for him. Gabriel’s now part of the Public Health team spotting trends and patterns in young people’s eating habits and overall health in local schools. His work underpins the team’s core initiatives by identifying and enabling data-informed decisions across the borough. Gabriel’s insight allows services and support to be provided where it’s most needed. Gabriel and the team contribute wholeheartedly to the wellbeing of our residents. And he’s an integral part of our collective efforts to make sure children are given the best start in life.

The Role:

As a Public Health Officer working on Health Protection portfolio and health promotion activity, you can make your own powerful contribution to improve outcomes and tackle inequalities across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) and Westminster City Council.

You’ll be a valued member of an excellent team of public health specialists, whose work enjoys a high profile and benefits from strong partnerships with stakeholders and the local community. In this varied role, you’ll play a key part in supporting a range of public health projects and programmes from health promotion to health services and health protection.

You will work with a number of stakeholders and will report to a Senior Public Health Strategist.

You will be a key member of the team, contributing to improving health and wellbeing of the local population.

We’ll look to you to provide Public Health project and programme management support and coordination. Drawing on your full spectrum of project and programme skills, you’ll contribute to everything from programme and strategy development and resource planning, communications, and reporting.

You will work closely and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including council teams, third sector organisations and NHS partners, and you will play a key role in driving the department’s business plan.

Please refer to the for more information.

About You:

Whether you have Public Health, a project management qualification or an equivalent level of relevant experience, you’ll demonstrate excellent organisational skills plus a flexible and resilient approach to your work.

Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders, project development, coordinating complex projects, and using Microsoft Office is essential.

A commitment to making a difference to residents’ health and wellbeing is vital. Your flair for communication with all kinds of people, both in person and in writing, enable you to help move projects forward and solve challenges creatively across multiple activities at the same time.

Westminster City Council is committed to supporting Care Leavers into the workplace. Care Leavers seeking their first job and who wish to be considered under our scheme, will automatically be invited to interview should they meet the essential criteria for the role.
