1:1 Teaching Assistant
We are working with a number of welcoming mainstream primary schools that are seeking dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants for day-to-day, short-term, and long-term supply roles from September 2026 .
About the role
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant , you will provide dedicated support to individual pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their personal goals.
You may support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other additional learning needs. Every placement is different, giving you the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of primary school settings while making a real difference to children's education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
- Work closely with class teachers, SENDCos, and external professionals
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback where appropriate
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements
To be considered for the role of 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential
- Experience working within a UK primary school is highly desirable
- Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other additional needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible and confident working across different school settings
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
