Science Technician – Primary School – Camden

Salary: Paid to scale

A welcoming Primary School in the London Borough of Camden is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to support the delivery of engaging practical science lessons across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing practical resources and helping children develop curiosity through hands-on scientific investigation.

Working closely with class teachers and the science lead, you will prepare equipment, organise resources and ensure practical activities are delivered safely and effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating exciting learning experiences that encourage pupils to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of science from an early age.

Science Team

The Science Team supports practical learning by providing exciting opportunities for pupils to investigate scientific concepts through engaging classroom activities.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing resources for practical science lessons.

  • Organising equipment for classroom investigations.

  • Maintaining science equipment and storage areas.

  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering resources.

  • Supporting teachers during practical activities.

  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.

  • Preparing simple demonstrations and experiments.

  • Keeping equipment clean and well maintained.

  • Maintaining inventories of science resources.

  • Supporting STEM events and enrichment activities.

  • Preparing classrooms before practical lessons.

  • Assisting with science displays around the school.

  • Supporting recycling and sustainability initiatives.

  • Maintaining risk assessment records.

  • Promoting safe working practices throughout the school.

Requirements

  • Previous laboratory or science support experience is desirable.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Strong practical ability.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good IT skills.

  • Positive and proactive attitude.

  • Commitment to safeguarding.

  • Enthusiasm for supporting children's learning.
