Attendance Officer
A successful Secondary School in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking a committed and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving attendance and supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance across the school while working closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies.
Working alongside Heads of Year, the Senior Leadership Team and safeguarding staff, you will monitor daily attendance, complete first-day absence procedures and maintain accurate attendance records using the school's management information system. You will analyse attendance trends, identify concerns early and coordinate interventions that encourage improved attendance and punctuality.
Responsibilities include contacting parents regarding absences, arranging attendance meetings, preparing reports for senior leaders and governors, supporting statutory attendance returns and maintaining confidential pupil records. You will also work with external agencies where appropriate to support families and remove barriers preventing students from attending school regularly.
The role requires excellent communication skills, empathy and resilience. You will be confident building positive relationships while maintaining high expectations and supporting the school's safeguarding procedures at all times.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational abilities, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving attendance outcomes across the school community.

Requirements
Previous attendance, pastoral or school administration experience desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational abilities
Experience analysing attendance data
Good IT skills and experience using Arbor, Bromcom or SIMS desirable
Professional and confidential approach
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting excellent attendance
