Junior Designer / Designer
OK COOL is a (very) creative studio in love with social media. We humanise brands. We connect them to culture. We help them think, act and behave like the people they need to connect with. Our clients are cultural powerhouses like Puma, Disney, Meta, Duolingo, Uniqlo, Lululemon, Wing Stop, Berghaus and AWAY and we’re looking for a Designer who’s not afraid to introduce niche design vibes to the masses…
We need a designer with opinions and a point of view. A maker. Someone already putting visuals into the world that people actually care about. And no, “people” doesn’t mean a glossy billboard or a Times Square takeover. It could be a close group of people in a specific subculture that love your work… (but it has to be more than your mum hyping you up on Facebook…)
Technical skills? Obviously. That’s hygiene. Maybe you picked them up working on brand campaigns. Or maybe you’ve never touched a brand deck in your life but you’re creating all the flyposters people post to IG Stories.
In short; Opinions. Technical skills. And great taste.
As a Designer at OK COOL you are the person that will produce high quality, culturally relevant content and visual worlds for our diverse client base, working within brand guidelines but not being afraid to stretch them.
Designers at OK COOL inspire the whole agency, curating relevant visual styles from all kinds of UK subcultures and beyond to inspire our work. This usually comes from having one foot in a side hustle outside of ‘work’ and personal projects that are the purest expression of your creativity.
Alongside being highly visually creative, Designers at OK COOL hold the technical knowledge needed when designing for social platforms, and are expected to have a basic level of motion ability to leverage when needed.
Duties and responsibilities of a Designer:
Create stand-out graphic content for social media
Develop visual worlds guiding campaigns and brand content
Prepare drafts and moodboards
Create basic motion graphics assets
Confidently present ideas
Work within existing brand guidelines
Collaborate with the creative team in the visual execution of creative ideas
Proactively test graphics and designs across platforms to identify highest impact
Explore how AI can continue to enhance creativity in design
Study design briefs and determine requirements
Manage and schedule your time to answer briefs
Inspire the agency and clients with the latest design trends in online and offline culture
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Naturally curious and open-minded approach to design.
Exceptional taste and awareness of technology, the arts and pop culture
Experience designing in at least one subculture (eg. community event flyers, content design for a meme channel, music videos, vis ID for student fashion show)
Highly conceptual thinker
Fluent in Ps, Ai, Id. Working knowledge of the entire Adobe Creative Suite
Deep knowledge of Google Slides
Experience in creating content on digital and social media platforms
Understanding of how social platforms operate (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter)
High attention to detail (regarding layout, typography and iconography)
Ability to listen well, process feedback, and explain the elements of the content you create
