We’re looking for a passionate, driven Sous Chef to join our high-performing culinary team at the iconic international cricket ground, The Kia Oval. As Sous Chef for Staff Dining you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering fresh, flavour-led food for venue staff including professional athletes, while supporting elite players during the cricket season with nutritionally balanced, performance-focused menus. This is a hands-on Sous Chef role for an organised, confident communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in creating food that fuels both people and performance. Sous Chef - Staff Dining - The role- Lead daily staff catering, delivering high-quality, well-presented meals on time — especially on match days and event periods.
- Create seasonal, cost-effective rotating menus aligned to dietary needs and guest feedback.
- Support the Performance Chef with nutritionally focused meals, snacks, hydration and recovery options for players.
- Adapt menus and service styles around training schedules, match days, and individual dietary requirements.
- Supervise and develop junior chefs and kitchen assistants, delegating tasks and supporting daily operations.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food safety, allergen control, HACCP and kitchen hygiene at all times.
- Manage stock control, ordering, wastage reduction and supplier coordination.
- Foster a positive, organised, high-performance kitchen culture while supporting planning and prep during peak periods.
- Proven Sous Chef experience — or a strong Chef de Partie ready to step up.
- Background in high-volume workplace catering, staff dining, or performance catering
- Confident creating balanced, nutritious, great-tasting food across varied menus and cuisines.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with a calm, solution-focused mindset.
- Excellent knowledge of allergens, dietary requirements, and food safety standards.
- Flexible to work match days, weekends, and event evenings as required.
- Thrives under pressure with a positive, professional, team-first attitude.
