Analyst (Hiring Immediately)

corepowerenergy
Hounslow, Greater London

COMPANY OVERVIEW CORE POWER was founded in 2018 to solve the world's energy challenges by delivering ship-based power directly to the industries and economies driving global prosperity, overcoming the barriers that have held nuclear energy back. CORE POWER builds, integrates and deploys ship-based nuclear energy systems. We build and support two classes of vessel: moored ship-shaped power plants, or FNPPs, that generate high-density energy, and nuclear-powered commercial ships that will speed up global trade. ROLE SUMMARY The Analyst will support work across ship-based nuclear power generation, civil maritime nuclear propulsion and wider maritime nuclear sector development. This role will have a focus on our regulatory efforts, however will have exposure to other focuses as well. The role requires careful research, disciplined source handling, clear writing and the ability to turn complex material into usable analysis. The Analyst will prepare task reports, gap analyses, source registers, stakeholder maps, briefing notes and meeting records for use in licensing strategy, regulatory development, external engagement and senior decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Research and organize primary regulatory materials, including laws, regulations, guidance, treaties, regulator publications, standards and official meeting records. Prepare concise written outputs, including task reports, briefing notes, gap analyses, regulatory summaries, applicability matrices and stakeholder maps. Maintain the regulatory and other knowledge bases, completed work compendium, source registers, stakeholder records and action trackers. Monitor developments from NRC, USCG, MARAD, CBP, IMO, IAEA, OECD NEA, class societies, national regulators, ports and industry groups. Support external engagement by preparing briefing notes, meeting notes, action logs and follow-up records. Identify regulatory gaps, uncertainties, risks and potential mitigations, escalating issues where senior input, legal advice or external engagement is needed. Work across Regulatory Programs, including Generation, Propulsion, Construction and Maritime Nuclear Sector Development. Apply good document discipline, including clear naming, filing, version control, source referencing and tracker updates. Job Requirements: Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce clear analysis for senior review. Strong primary-source research skills, with the ability to find, verify, cite and organise evidence. Ability to compare regulatory frameworks and explain implications for deployment, licensing, engagement or strategy. Good judgement with incomplete information, including the ability to separate facts, assumptions, open questions and recommendations. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, including accurate tracker maintenance and document control. Confidence working across legal, technical, policy and commercial issues, with willingness to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SharePoint, Egnyte or similar document systems is desirable. Right to work in the relevant location, with willingness to travel occasionally for meetings, workshops or industry events. Preferred Qualifications and Experience Educational Requirements: Undergraduate degree in law, public policy, international relations, engineering, nuclear, maritime, energy, economics, regulatory affairs or a related discipline. Postgraduate study or professional training in a relevant field would be useful but is not essential. Work Experience: Around 1 to 4 years of relevant experience is expected. Relevant experience may come from a regulator, government department, international organisation, law firm, consultancy, think tank, energy company, shipping organisation, infrastructure developer or parliamentary or congressional office. Experience in nuclear, maritime, energy, safety, security, safeguards, licensing, standards, trade or industrial policy would be particularly relevant. Experience preparing briefing notes, research papers, stakeholder maps, source registers, consultation responses or policy analysis would be valuable. Behavior: Outcome-driven and accountable; owns delivery from strategy through execution. Calm and decisive under pressure; comfortable operating with ambiguity. Collaborative and supportive of others. Curious, rigorous and willing to learn complex nuclear, maritime and regulatory subject matter. Resilient and persistent; maintains momentum in long-cycle, high-scrutiny settings. Careful with sources and evidence; does not overstate conclusions beyond what the evidence supports.
