Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Midwife with an interest in clinical research to join our dynamic research team at University College London Hospital on a 12 month fixed term contract

This role involves the delivery and the Flip2 trial which is a randomised controlled trial exploring whether the vaginal probiotic LACTIN-V (Lactobacillus crispatus) reduces preterm birth risk in high-risk women.

Main duties of the job
While prior research experience is desirable and candidates with this background are particularly encouraged to apply, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to quickly understand and implement complex academic protocols, possess strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Applicants must meet all the essential criteria listed in the Person Specification and align with the Trust's vision and values. Ideally, candidates will have at least 2 years of post-registration experience and a genuine interest in clinical research.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Midwife with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • First degree
  • Evidence of ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of the role of a Research Midwife
  • Knowledge of Clinical Research Governance
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in midwifery and gynaecology, and in clinical research
  • Knowledge of current women's health studies running within UCLH
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
Desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice
Experience
Essential
  • Evidence of working as Midwife within a women's health clinical area
  • 2 years post registration
  • Demonstrate clinical ability to provide high quality patient care

  • Exposure to research delivery within their clinical setting.
