With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony! Your Role
As the Deputy of Operations, you will be responsible for leading the core operations team, managing complex event delivery for Pride in London, and ensuring the successful execution of all operational aspects of the event. This hands-on senior role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational expertise. ● This role has a flexible start time however, we would be looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. ● Availability to volunteer on the day of the event (Saturday 4th July) is essential. This role carries an average volunteer commitment of approximately 6-8 hours per week , working flexibly around other commitments. ● Operations Meetings are held on the first Saturday of every month and every Saturday in June. Availability to make these meetings is essential.
Your Responsibilities
● Lead and manage the core operations team, including overseeing and planning operations meetings. ● Act as a key liaison with operational stakeholders, attending meetings and representing the Director of Operations & Event Planning when required. ● Support the Event Management Plan (EMP), ensuring the operations team is fully briefed and well-prepared. ● Collaborate closely with other deputy directors to advise on operational needs, including communications, partnership activations, and volunteer coordination. ● Oversee engagement with local residents and businesses to ensure smooth operations and community support. ● Prioritise accessibility and sustainability throughout all stages of operational planning and delivery. ● Manage, inspire, and empower a team of 30+ volunteers, ensuring they are aligned with the mission and ready for event day.
What you'll bring to Pride in London
● Event Management Experience: Over 3 years of experience managing the end-to-end delivery of complex events, including planning, logistics, on-site management, post-event breakdown, and evaluation. Experience with Pride in London is a plus. ● Enthusiasm and Vision: A dynamic, forward-thinking approach to the role, with the confidence and vision needed to drive Pride in London’s growth and success. ● Communication Expertise: Excellent communication skills that build credibility and strong relationships with agency partners, suppliers, and key stakeholders. ● Time Management and Multitasking: Proven ability to work to tight deadlines, maintaining attention to detail and managing multiple projects simultaneously. ● Organisational Skills: Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with experience in reporting and monitoring activities. ● Prioritisation: Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise workload, especially under pressure or when dealing with competing time constraints. ● Leadership Skills: A collaborative, confident leader who motivates and develops teams to consistently achieve high performance and deliver exceptional results. ● Proactive and High-Standard Approach: A commitment to excellence with a proactive attitude toward identifying opportunities and setting high standards for yourself and your team. ● Adaptability: A flexible, resilient approach that can thrive independently and as part of a team while adapting to evolving circumstances. ● Strong Analytical Skills: Excellent organisational and analytical capabilities, keen eye for detail. ● Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: A genuine passion for LGBT+ issues and a commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusion in all aspects of event planning and execution.
