Accounting Assistant
Location: City of London (Part-Time Office Based, with potential hybrid working)

About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a growing professional services firm seeking a proactive and reliable Accounting Assistant to support its expanding accounts, payroll, and administrative functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in the accounting, tax, or legal sectors and looking for a long-term role with scope for development.
Working closely with the Accounts Manager, you will provide day-to-day support across the firm’s internal accounting operations, with the opportunity to assist in the preparation of client payrolls as your skills grow. As the firm continues to build its legal, tax, consultancy, and payroll services, this role offers clear progression and the chance to broaden your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Support
Input financial data into accounting software and spreadsheets
Raise bills, process credit notes, send statements, and support credit control
Process supplier invoices and staff expenses, ensuring accurate coding
Assist with monthly billing when required
Support month-end closing procedures
Payroll & Administrative Support
Assist with the preparation and processing of monthly client payrolls (full training provided)
Provide general office administrative support as needed
Carry out ad hoc duties to support the wider team
Requirements
No formal qualifications required
Confidence working with spreadsheets, accounting software, and document management systems
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks
Professional, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality service
Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
Ability to work effectively within a small team
Previous payroll experience is helpful, but training will be provided
Training & Development

In-house payroll training
Training on relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., Solicitor’s Accounts Rules)

Supervision & Support
Daily oversight and guidance from the Accounts Manager
Regular 1-2-1 reviews
Collaboration with tax professionals on payroll matters when required
Opportunity to provide holiday cover for accounts and office administration functions once trained
