Commercial Underwriter

A Global Insurer with offices across the UK are looking to source an experienced Commercial New Business P&C Underwriter.

Key Responsibilities

Working with key strategic intermediary partners to underwrite new business opportunities in the mid market to mid corporate space.
Operate within your underwriting authority working closely with the Underwriting Manager & Sales Team to deliver exception service to customers and innovative underwriting solutions.
Support less experienced colleagues to increase their knowledge and experience.
Comfortable trading face to face with intermediaries or clients.
Identify and develop a new business pipeline to enable annual targets to be hit by year end.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Strong trading and relationship management experience.
Strong knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
Demonstrated high level of technical expertise in Property and Casualty Underwriting.
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners at all levels.
Capacity to work independently.
Strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems as well as to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, and manage and prioritise multiple concurrent projects.
Skilled in exercising independent judgment and making critical business decisions effectively.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
