Location: North London
Rate: £270 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 3-month ongoing contract
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Vox Consultants are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Needs Team Manager to join a Local Authority in North London .
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to lead a frontline Housing Needs team, delivering high-quality homelessness prevention and assessment services while ensuring compliance with housing legislation and providing outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage one of the Council's Housing Needs teams, ensuring the delivery of an effective, responsive and customer-focused homelessness prevention and assessment service.
  • Oversee the management of homelessness applications, ensuring decisions are made in accordance with the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and relevant housing legislation.
  • Deliver high-quality case management, ensuring statutory timescales and service standards are consistently achieved.
  • Support and develop a team of Housing Needs Officers through regular supervision, coaching and performance management.
  • Manage complex and high-risk homelessness cases, providing expert advice and guidance to staff.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, external agencies and partner organisations to prevent homelessness and improve outcomes for residents.
  • Ensure the effective use of available resources while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives across the Housing Demand service.
  • Lead the implementation and delivery of responsibilities arising from the Renters' Rights Act , ensuring statutory enforcement duties are carried out effectively.
  • Monitor team performance, quality assurance and compliance with Council policies and legislation.
  • Prepare performance reports and provide updates to senior management as required.
About You
  • Previous experience managing a Housing Needs, Homelessness Prevention or Housing Options team within a Local Authority.
  • Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 , Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 , Renters' Rights Act and related housing legislation.
  • Experience managing complex homelessness and housing needs cases.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience motivating and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of homelessness prevention, housing assessments and statutory duties.
  • Strong decision-making, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer outcomes.
