Cleaning Operative at Selhurst Depot
Pay: £18.45 per hour (standard) | £36.90 per hour (bank holidays)
Contract: 6-month initial contract with potential to go permanent Keep the depot shining, keep the railway moving! This is your chance to join one of the UK’s leading train operators and become part of the team behind the scenes at Selhurst Depot. As a Cleaning Operative, you will play a vital role in keeping both the engineering shed and staff facilities clean, safe, and welcoming. If you are the kind of person who enjoys staying active, using professional cleaning equipment, and taking pride in a job well done, this role is perfect for you. Every shift brings variety, teamwork, and the satisfaction of seeing the difference you make straight away. Why you will love this role Forget sitting still, this is a hands-on job where no two days are the same. One shift you will be jet washing and sweeping the depot, the next you will be making sure canteens, locker rooms, and communal spaces are spotless. You will be working alongside a supportive team, with professional training and equipment provided, and you will know that your work directly supports the smooth running of one of the busiest depots in the country. With excellent pay and the chance to secure a permanent role, this is an opportunity to build a career in the railway sector while making a real impact every day. What makes you a great fit We are looking for team players who are dependable, safety-conscious, and not afraid to get stuck in. You will need to be physically fit, able to lift, and confident using cleaning machinery like scrubbing machines and jet washers. An eye for detail and a flexible approach to shifts will help you thrive in this busy, rewarding role. Hours of work & pay rate You will work an average of 35 hours per week across a rotating roster of day and late shifts: Day shifts: 08:00am – 16:00pm
Late shifts: 14:00pm – 22:30pm
Pay rate is £18.45 per hour, with bank holiday shifts paid at £36.90 per hour. Flexibility is key in this role, and your willingness to step in and cover extra shifts will be highly valued. About the Company You will be stepping into a role with one of the UK’s leading train operating companies, running services across London and the South East. Every day, their trains connect millions of passengers to work, family, and leisure, making them a vital part of the region’s transport network. By joining the train presentation team, you will be part of an organisation that is committed to safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement. They invest heavily in modern, comfortable fleets and in the people who keep them running. That means when you join, you are not just taking on a job, you are contributing to a mission that helps shape greener, more efficient travel for the future. Employees here enjoy being part of a forward-thinking company that values teamwork, reliability, and pride in the work they do. Whether it is through structured training, opportunities to progress, or simply the satisfaction of knowing you are making a visible difference every day, this is a place where you can truly build a career in rail. ________________________________________ Next Steps Send your updated CV to (url removed).
