About the Role
The Catering Assistant will work as part of the school catering team to prepare, serve, and maintain high standards of food hygiene. This role is essential in supporting the school’s commitment to providing healthy, balanced meals to all students and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the preparation and serving of meals according to school menu plans.
Ensuring all food preparation and serving areas meet hygiene and safety standards.
Supporting daily kitchen operations, including cleaning, dishwashing, and stock management.
Following food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures at all times.
Assisting with the setup and cleanup of dining areas.
Supporting special dietary requirements and food allergies as directed.
Working collaboratively with the catering team to maintain smooth service during peak times.
Reporting any maintenance or safety issues in the kitchen promptly.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in catering, food preparation, or kitchen support is desirable but not essential.
Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Professional and friendly approach when dealing with students and staff.
Ability to follow instructions and adhere to hygiene procedures.
Training can be provided for candidates new to a catering environment.
