Senior Product Designer (Growth)
About InvestEngine
InvestEngine is everything the modern investor should need. Unbeatable value, market-leading automation, and built for easy, long-term investing. We’ve built a strong foundation, have over £3 billion invested, award-winning service, and a passionate team, now we’re ready to scale.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Product Designer to join our Growth stream and help deliver consistently high-quality product design work at pace.
This is a hands-on IC contract role. The core expectation is simple: deliver build-ready design with low churn . Especially on our highest-priority, higher-risk customer journeys, that means getting work to a confident, build-ready state with minimal rework, through strong upfront clarity, solid collaboration and good judgement.
You'll work closely with Product and Engineering day to day, and partner with Design on standards, craft and our evolving Design System
What You’ll Do
Own design work end-to-end in the Growth stream, from early framing through to build-ready delivery and iteration after release
Produce clear, implementation-ready design output such as flows, states, edge cases, content and acceptance criteria, so engineering has less back-and-forth
Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to clarify problems early and avoid late-stage rework
Contribute to Design System usage and consistency through your delivery, reusing and improving patterns where needed
Use AI as part of your workflow to accelerate exploration and delivery, in a way that stays repeatable and legible to the team
Take part in our research and evidence practice. We run concept, usability and comprehension testing across the team, and you'll help plan and run studies, then turn findings and product and behavioural data into design decisions
Design in a regulated context, with a strong bias toward clarity, fair treatment and customer comprehension
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience designing digital products as a Product Designer or UX/UI Designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex product experiences.
Strong product design craft, spanning interaction design, systems thinking and end-to-end journey ownership
Comfortable being hands-on with research. You're happy to get stuck into user research as part of the role, with our support, and you make design decisions from evidence rather than opinion
Data-driven design. You use product and behavioural data, along with experiment results, to frame problems, prioritise and prove that designs actually work
High ownership and autonomy, comfortable operating as a senior contractor, clarifying ambiguity and driving work forward
Excellent collaboration, working as a partner to Product and Engineering rather than a service desk
Pragmatic judgement on quality versus speed, knowing where polish matters most
Comfort working within a design system and contributing to it
Comprehension-first, fair-treatment mindset. You design for genuine customer understanding, not just usability. Experience in a regulated environment such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, gambling or utilities is a strong advantage, but what matters most is that you can clearly evidence this mindset, whether or not it comes from regulated work
English fluency (C1 level and above) — we are a UK-based company, and the role involves regular communication with the team
Nice to Have
Experience with growth experimentation and funnel optimisation
Strong prototyping skills for quick validation
Prior experience operationalising AI in team workflows, beyond personal use
Fintech or investing-domain experience specifically. Regulated experience is a strong advantage, and the sector itself is a bonus
How We Work
We’re a lean, fast-moving team that values clarity, ownership, and transparency.
You’ll have the freedom to experiment, the responsibility to follow through, and the backing of a team that values clear thinking and open dialogue. We believe in solving problems at the root, not just treating the symptoms.
What We Offer
Impact from day one
You’ll take on meaningful work from the start, tackling real challenges that drive the stability, efficiency, and growth of our business.
Room to grow
As we scale, you’ll have opportunities to expand your responsibilities, influence how we work, and help shape our long-term direction.
Transparent and open culture
We share decisions openly, keep communication channels clear, and encourage collaboration across every part of the business.
Supportive, high-calibre team
Work alongside talented professionals who are experts in their fields — smart, driven, and generous with their knowledge.
Remote first and flexible
Work in the way that best suits you. We focus on results, not rigid hours, and trust you to manage your time effectively.
Our Hiring Process
Introductory call with our Talent team
Gamified cognitive assessment to understand how you think and problem-solve
Competency interview focused on your experience in operational risk and controls (may include a short task or case study)
Senior leadership interview to explore alignment with our culture, values, and strategic direction
