Assistant Professor in Management The School of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University promotes the benefits of physical activity to society by providing a multidisciplinary approach to discovery, dissemination, and application of related knowledge and outcomes. Kinesiology is home to the International Centre for Olympic Studies (including Paralympic Studies), and the Sport and Social Impact Research Group. Kinesiology at Western is ranked 20th in the world for Sport Related Subjects (QS 2024). The School of Kinesiology champions three research clusters focusing on physical activity and 1) Brain Health, 2) Mobility, and 3) Social Impact with strong links to Faculty Research Centres in Activity and Aging, and Health Equity and Social Inclusion. We invite applications for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Management, with a focus on contributing to the Sport and Social Impact Research Group. The successful candidate will help drive the School's vision of being a global leader in inclusive excellence in research and education through a multidisciplinary approach to Kinesiology. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching focus on areas such as leadership, governance and policy, sport for development, entrepreneurship, critical events studies, or related fields. The ideal candidate will be an innovative scholar with experience in interdisciplinary environments, a record of research excellence, and demonstrated potential to secure external funding and produce high-quality scholarly and/or creative outputs. Candidates are encouraged to demonstrate alignment with one or more of the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Centres and Groups. The School of Kinesiology is committed to constructing a dynamic, supportive space that integrates principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, decolonization, and accessibility among all members. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing work that considers how intersecting relationships of power shape individuals, groups, cultures, and ways of knowing. Their teaching and research will demonstrate potential for meaningful engagement with, and be inclusive of, students from equity-owed communities. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in relevant service to the School of Kinesiology, Faculty of Health Sciences, and the University, and have a demonstrated capacity to contribute substantively to an inclusive and diverse academic community. Candidates must hold a PhD in Kinesiology or a related field at the start of the appointment. Post-doctoral research experience is considered an asset. The impact of certain circumstances that may legitimately affect a candidate's teaching and research will be given careful consideration. Candidates are encouraged to provide any relevant information about their experience and/or career interruptions.
The effective date of the appointment is July 1, 2026, or as negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
