Senior Backend Engineer

What you'll be doing:
- Provide advanced technical support for large-scale online game projects across international markets.
- Analyse backend server architectures, data storage, and network communication, creating tailored technical solutions that enhance performance and reliability.
- Design, develop, and maintain online services such as matchmaking, real-time gameplay, data synchronisation, and login systems.
- Ensure backend systems meet high availability and low latency standards for a seamless global player experience.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external development teams to optimise technical solutions and improve performance across regions.
- Lead or participate in technical discussions, driving innovation and best practices across teams and partner studios.
What we're looking for:
- At least 8 years of backend development experience, including 5+ years in the games industry.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language – C++ or Golang preferred.
- Strong understanding of high-performance, concurrent, and scalable system design.
- Experience building and optimising distributed systems, with familiarity in microservices, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and service discovery tools (Etcd, ZooKeeper).
- Solid experience working with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB) databases, including performance tuning.
- Practical knowledge of online game backend systems such as matchmaking, multiplayer battles, and real-time network synchronisation.
- Experience with Unreal Engine or cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Understanding of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures.
- Fluency in English; Mandarin language skills are an advantage but not essential.
