Learning Support Assistant
SEN Learning Support Assistant - Year 2 - Lambeth Location: Lambeth, South London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, long-term Pay: £100-£115 per day A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is looking for an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism (ASD). The pupil is non-verbal and has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school is seeking a confident and resilient ASD practitioner who can provide consistent, individualised support and follow effective autism-support strategies throughout the school day. The Role Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team, you will play an important role in helping the pupil access learning, communicate and feel secure within the school environment. Responsibilities will include: Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with ASD Following consistent, appropriate autism-support strategies Supporting communication and engagement using approaches suited to the pupil Helping the pupil access classroom activities and the wider curriculum Supporting emotional regulation, transitions and daily routines Encouraging independence, participation and positive interactions Working towards the pupil's individual targets and EHCP outcomes Maintaining clear communication with the class teacher and SENCO Helping create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment About You The school is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a strong understanding of autism and the importance of consistency. You should be: Experienced supporting pupils with ASD, ideally in a primary school Confident working on a 1:1 basis with a non-verbal child Resilient, patient and calm under pressure Consistent in your approach to routines and support strategies Able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil A strong communicator who works well with teachers and the SENCOExperience using visual supports, PECS, Makaton or other communication approaches would be beneficial.
