Marchant Recruitment
Richmond, Greater London

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Richmond, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and making a tangible difference in their academic and personal development.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos and prides itself on offering tailored support for pupils with a wide range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, social, emotional, and communication challenges. Staff work closely together to ensure that every child receives high-quality, personalised support. Senior leadership is approachable and committed to staff wellbeing, training, and professional growth.

The Role

As an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide dedicated support for a pupil with specific learning or behavioural needs. You will provide one-to-one interventions, in-class assistance, and emotional support to ensure the pupil can access the curriculum and develop their confidence, independence, and resilience.

You will also liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide consistent support and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND

  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets

  • Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence

  • Observe, record, and report on pupil progress

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCo, and other staff to deliver personalised support

  • Support the pupil during transitions, structured activities, and break times

  • Contribute to staff meetings, training, and school initiatives

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in a 1:1 setting

  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Be proactive, flexible, and reliable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

Location

The school is located in Richmond, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, well-resourced, and inclusive environment that prioritises collaboration, wellbeing, and professional development.

How to Apply
