ECT Programme & Support
- Specialist Mentoring: Receive intensive, subject-specific mentoring from a senior member of the English faculty, focused on literary scholarship and pedagogical precision.
- Protected Development Time: Enjoy a timetable allocation explicitly dedicated to non-contact induction activities, mirroring or exceeding the statutory reduced time.
- Scholarly Environment: Encouragement and funding for the pursuit of higher academic study (e.g., Master's level work) in English Literature or Language.
The Role
- Inspire students by teaching ambitious English Literature and Language across Key Stage 3 and assisting in Key Stage 4 and 5 classes.
- Lead small-group work, debate sessions, and contribute to the school's vibrant literary societies and publications.
- Develop outstanding schemes of work, focusing on critical thinking, sophisticated analytical writing, and a genuine appreciation of great texts.
Requirements
- A strong degree in English Literature or Language. QTS is desirable but not essential, provided the candidate is committed to commencing the Independent School Induction Pathway.
- Intellectual curiosity, excellent communication skills, and the potential to become a leading teacher of English.
- A desire to immerse oneself fully in the cultural and pastoral life of a busy independent school.
