Help Drive Better Attendance | Attendance Officer | Brent

We’re currently working with an Outstanding secondary school in Brent that is looking for an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administration team.

Attendance is a key priority for the school, and this role will involve working closely with students, parents, pastoral staff and senior leaders to identify concerns and help improve attendance and punctuality.

You’ll need to be organised and persistent, but also approachable enough to build positive relationships with families and students.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality

• Following up unexplained and persistent absences

• Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance

• Identifying patterns and emerging attendance concerns

• Maintaining accurate attendance records

• Supporting attendance improvement plans

• Working alongside pastoral staff and senior leaders

• Arranging and supporting attendance meetings

• Producing attendance reports and analysing attendance data

• Recording interventions and communication with families

• Supporting strategies to improve persistent absence

• Following school safeguarding and attendance procedures

The Right Person

The school would ideally like to hear from candidates with previous school attendance experience, although relevant experience in pastoral support, family liaison or education administration may also be considered.

You’ll need to be confident communicating with parents and students, comfortable working with data and able to deal with sensitive situations professionally.

Strong organisation and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to work independently and follow issues through to a resolution.
