Product Manager - Menswear

Triple Wimbledon champion Fred Perry founded his brand in 1952. He was the son of a cotton spinner, who played and fought his way through, always with style – and despite the establishment. Today, Fred Perry is a global community of over 370 employees, all inspired by the Laurel Wreath and what it represents

PURPOSE:

A dynamic and pivotal role, with a broad remit stretching from Product Development; commercialisation of the Product Collections; range planning and working directly with global sales data and consumer insight & behaviour

To work collaboratively with and drive a dynamic cross business team covering all aspects of Product Development from Design concept through to global launch

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To manage the development process of the Fred Perry Collections, in line with the Business Plan & Strategy

• Working with the Head of Design & the Design Team on the execution of the creative direction

• Working collaboratively the Head of QA & Sustainability to ensure the collections are responsibly sourced and developed. Building in sustainability from the design stage

• To ensure that the range is delivered, quality is well executed, and that it fulfils both the requirements of the Brand and the Global Markets

• Build and deliver the seasonal Business strategy based on global analysis & Market insight

• Range planning – Identify opportunities and growth categories to inform the quarterly range plans ensuring the business strategy is covered

• To be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with our internal Business Teams and Global Supply base

• Management of team workload, development and career progression in the form of a 6-month review and yearly appraisal

• Manage product team to deliver new fabrics, new graphic techniques and trims by factory sourcing and comp shops

• Undertake seasonal pricing negotiations in line with target margins, in order to present the quarterly Price Sign Off

• Work with Retail Buying & Merchandising to ensure the new seasonal stories and key product is reflected in store/online

• Align with the Marketing team to deliver the Quarterly Sales Exhibition. Involvement can include product presentations and key market meetings to discuss regional feedback, missed opportunities and market SMU’s

• Regularly review and challenge our business practices, constantly looking for more effective and efficient ways of working

THE PERSON:

• Passionate about product and leading by example with the ability to mentor and train the wider Team members

• A natural leader with strong communicational skills

• A self-driven, team player, able to work both independently as well as collaboratively with the wider teams

• Expert knowledge of product construction and experience working with varied global supply base

• Quick to react, evaluate and resolve the day-to-day issues that arise during the development process

• Experienced in fabric, yarn and material development

• Comfortable multi-tasking and managing a diverse workload across multiple quarters

• Adept with product constructions, manufacturing techniques and strong commercial awareness

• Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft systems

HOURS:

We actively encourage our teams to have a good work/life balance and so we are pleased to offer flexible working shifts at Fred Perry HQ. Our core shift hours are from 10am – 4.30pm and so employees can choose to start and finish early, or start and finish late. (i.e. work 8:00am-4:30pm, or 10:00am-6:30pm etc). We also have 30-minute early finish on Fridays.

As we continue to work in a more flexible way, the Head Office acts a brand hub, where we can all connect and collaborate with one another. This role is a mix of office based (London) and remote working. We will expect the employee to come into the office regularly for face-to-face meetings and to work alongside their team on collaborative projects.
