Founding Product Designer

Fifth Dimension
London

The Opportunity

Fifth Dimension is the most prominent AI company in real estate in the world, bringing the magic of AI automation to document-heavy industries . Our AI workspace helps leading investment managers, owners, and operators across the US, UK, and APAC automate complex workflows, extract insights from critical documents, and make faster, smarter decisions.

We're looking for our first Product Designer in London, reporting directly to the founder/CPO. You'll be a founding member of a new product team alongside engineering. You won't inherit a design system or a Figma library. You'll create them. You'll define how intelligence is presented, how trust is built, how complex workflows feel simple, and how AI and humans collaborate in professional decision-making.

This is an IC role with founding scope. If you're the kind of designer who could lead a team but wants to spend the next two years honing their craft on genuinely novel problems, this is the role.

About Us

We're a London, New York and Singapore based startup with ample runway, backed by Tier 1 European and American investors. Our founders, Johnny Morris and Dr. Kate Jarvis bring a powerful blend of expertise (and spice ️): Johnny has 17+ years applying data and analytics to Real Estate, while Kate holds a Stanford PhD and 12 years of executive experience across Silicon Valley and London startups.

At Fifth Dimension, we're demanding yet encouraging, valuing experimentation and kind challenges. Our company values, Own It, Ship It, and Don't Be Boring , drive us to deliver exceptional results while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

The Challenge

We're leaving a huge amount of value uncaptured because we haven't yet taken a design-led view of the product. What should the product look like to immediately communicate intelligence and connectivity? How do the first 30 seconds of a sales demo show we're an intelligence platform, not a chatbot? What's the UI that makes users want to share their work and pull their colleagues in?

The design problems here are genuinely novel. How do you present AI-extracted insights alongside source documents so a professional trusts them enough to make a $100M investment decision? How do you design interfaces for AI agents that work asynchronously, stream results, and surface findings in real time? How do you make 50 columns of financial data feel powerful and clear, not overwhelming?

Imagine it's 9 AM on a Monday. You're reviewing session recordings from a major property investor, watching analysts navigate dense lease data. By noon, you've redesigned the extraction review flow, cutting 6 clicks to 2 and surfacing the confidence signals that matter. By Wednesday, you're testing the prototype with a customer in their office. By Friday, the engineers have shipped it and the customer's head of acquisitions messages: "My team LOVE using this now, they can't stop talking about it." That's the pace.

What You'll Do

  • Design and ship. You own the design layer end-to-end. User research through to pixel-perfect delivery. There is no handoff. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering in London, prototype rapidly, and use AI tools to collapse the gap between idea and implementation. We ship daily. You will too.

  • Define the language. You'll establish the visual standards, interaction patterns, component systems, and design principles the product grows into. Typography, hierarchy, density, motion, data visualisation. You set the bar and hold it.

  • Invent AI-native interaction. Agentic workflows, streaming outputs, document intelligence, confidence signals, human-AI collaboration. There's no playbook for this. You'll be writing it. Trust, explainability, responsive agentic UI, designing intelligence. These are the problems that will define your best work.

  • Talk to customers. Visit their offices. Watch them work. Run usability sessions. Sit with a portfolio manager and understand how they think about a $500M real estate portfolio. There is no research team. You are the research team.

  • Design to drive growth. The first 30 seconds of a demo, the onboarding flow that lands a new team, the interface that makes a customer expand from one use case to five. Your design decisions directly drive revenue. You'll see that in the numbers, not just the Figma comments.

  • Shape what gets built. You won't just execute on someone else's vision. You'll influence what the product becomes, not just how it looks. The best design work here is upstream, shaping product direction alongside the CPO and engineering.

  • Raise the bar. Help product engineers develop stronger design instincts. Champion frontend quality, accessibility, and the details that separate good products from great ones. Make everyone care more about craft.

About You

You're a designer who ships. Exceptional taste, fast hands, strong opinions. You're equally comfortable in Figma and on a customer call. You don't wait for permission and you don't need months of discovery to produce something tangible. People around you would say you operate at a level above your title.

You've designed complex, data-rich interfaces for demanding professional users. Tables, dashboards, document viewers, multi-step workflows. You know what it means to design something 200 people use for 8 hours a day. Real enterprise tools, not consumer apps, not marketing sites.

You use AI tools to amplify your output and you're excited about what that means for the craft of design. You've designed AI interfaces: trust signals, agentic workflows, streaming UIs, human-AI collaboration. In production or as a side project, you've been exploring by building.

You have sharp product instinct. You shape what gets built, not just how it looks. You make trade-offs, back them up, and run your own user research. You don't need a research team to understand your users.

You thrive with autonomy. Ambiguity doesn't scare you, it's where the interesting work lives. You're energised by early-stage: building something from zero, not inheriting a playbook.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep experience in product design, with a portfolio that shows real taste and craft in complex information design

  • Shipped data-rich interfaces in production: tables, dashboards, document viewers, multi-step workflows for professional users

  • Runs your own user research: interviews, usability tests, site visits. Energised by sitting with domain experts

  • Systems thinker, designs in components and patterns, can build a design system from scratch

  • Proficient with AI tools in their own workflow, uses them to move faster, not as a novelty

  • At least one startup or early-stage experience where they owned design end-to-end

  • Experience designing AI interfaces, trust signals, agentic workflows, streaming UIs, human-AI collaboration patterns

Nice to Have

  • Has been a founding or sole designer before, knows the "build from zero" experience

  • Former founder, built businesses, wants to build product without the CEO overhead

  • Adjacent domain knowledge, financial services, legal tech, data platforms

  • Visible in the design community, writes, speaks, shares work publicly

  • Can touch code, enough to prototype or unblock themselves

Compensation and benefits

We are a hybrid London office, everyone comes in every Wednesday, ideally more.

  • Highly competitive salary

  • Meaningful equity on a standard vesting schedule

  • Enhanced pension contributions, 5%

  • Unlimited annual leave

  • £100 monthly wellbeing budget, for whatever helps you feel your best ️ ️

  • Private Healthcare (BUPA)

  • Tailored support for exceptional challenges. This looks different for everyone, but can include contributions to: gender-affirming care; private specialist and scans for an injury; ADHD/autism diagnosis; IVF; therapy

  • Enhanced parental leave: 14 weeks full pay (followed by standard statutory pay) for primary caregiver, 6 weeks full pay for secondary caregiver

  • Electric car scheme (salary sacrifice)

  • £1,000 annual training budget

  • 2 week all-company December shutdown

The Process

  • Submit your CV and portfolio, with answers to a few questions

  • A call with our CPO to explore the initial fit

  • A portfolio review and design discussion

  • A live design challenge using a real Fifth Dimension problem

  • An in-person session with people across the business
