Senior Shape Designer, Head Office London, FT 35hrs p/w
JOB TITLE: Senior Shape Designer
LOCATION: Head Office, Moorgate, London
CONTRACT: Permanent, Full-time
HOURS: 35 hours over 5 days per week (Working Monday - Friday)
PAY RATE: Between £35,000-£45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
We have an amazing opportunity to join the team!
We are looking for a passionate designer to support both the design team and our in-house production. The role will revolve around analyzing the womenswear market and submitting new and updated shape ideas, as well as being fully integrated into our in-house production to provide support in each process from concept to delivery.
Suitable candidates will have relevant commercial experience working with a retailer or supplier and possess a strong portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DAY TO DAY:
· Market awareness, ability to research for directional and comparative trend and product direction, preparing tear-sheets
· Conduct print, shape and fabric analysis through competitive shops, working collaboratively with Print Designers
· Research global trends, materials, colors, and silhouettes to inform seasonal direction.
· Interpretation of trends into commercial design
· Developing new shape ideas based on briefs from development meetings and updating bestseller shapes
· Lead the end-trend design process across multiple product categories, from concept to final sample.
· Review & challenge briefs, demonstrating a commercial awareness of fabric and garment construction costs
· Produce complete digital technical packs ready for factory use; technical knowledge of the product is essential - liaising with Pattern Cutter, Sample Room & Garment Techs
· Maintaining fabric log library, searching & identifying newness
· Attend fittings and provide design input to ensure the best fit and finish of products
· Ensuring wholesale ranges and samples are ready on time
· Accountable for managing deadlines and meeting critical path for 1st fit developments;
· Accountable for keeping design development log & updating changes
SKILLS & KNOW-HOW:
· Relevant design degree (preferably 2:1 or higher)
· 3-6 years’ experience working in a supplier or retail setting
· Experience in comparative analysis and forecasting trends
· Highly skilled in Adobe (Photoshop & Illustrator) and creating technical packs
· Experience in dealing with factories and garment tech teams
· Strong fabric knowledge across jersey & woven
· Good CP understanding working two seasons ahead for US/Canada
· Working to & meeting key deadlines
