Premises Manager Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An Outstanding Secondary School in Kingston is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to oversee the effective management of the school's site, facilities, and operational services. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the premises, ensuring the school site remains compliant, well-maintained, and fit for purpose.
About the Role
The successful candidate will lead the management of the school's buildings, grounds, security, maintenance, and health and safety procedures. You will oversee contractors, manage compliance checks, coordinate repairs and improvement projects, and ensure the site operates efficiently.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, practical problem-solving ability, and the confidence to manage a wide range of operational responsibilities. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school and creating a safe and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and security of the school site
Oversee contractors, suppliers, and external service providers
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements
Manage premises budgets, procurement, and maintenance planning
Coordinate repairs, facilities projects, and site improvements
Oversee cleaning, caretaking, and site support functions
Maintain accurate records including risk assessments and compliance documentation
Support emergency procedures and business continuity planning

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in premises, estates, facilities, or site management
Strong knowledge of health and safety, compliance, and building maintenance
Ability to manage contractors and external suppliers effectively
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands
Desirable
Experience working within a school or education environment
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within a school setting
IOSH, NEBOSH, or relevant health and safety qualification
Experience managing improvement projects and budgets
