Nanny
A wonderful London-based family seeks a warm and engaging nanny who can legally work in both the UK and the US. The family can be relatively flexible around the schedule to suit the candidate (it could be a rotational, full-time or part-time set-up), however it is essential that the candidate can travel to the US with the child for at least 1-2 weeks at a time, several times per year. The successful candidate will join a staffed household and contribute to the outstanding care and development of a gorgeous autistic 6yr old boy. Candidates must therefore have experience caring for children who may need support regulating and with transitions, and who appreciate consistency and structure. The role is live-out while in London and live-in when in the US or when travelling. Candidates must be comfortable working alongside the parents and other staff to provide the best possible care. Responsibilities
Provide engaging care and support throughout the day
Prepare simple breakfast, lunch and snacks when required
Research local activities and sports that he might (hopefully!) enjoy
Support emotional regulation and transitions using positive reinforcement and gentle, consistent boundaries
Use appropriate and calming language that helps with big emotions
Provide structure and consistency around familiar routines, and be creative in how travel and periods away from usual daily routines are handled
Encourage age-appropriate independence, responsibility and positive habits
Accompany the family on regular trips to the US for up to a few weeks at a time
Work effectively as part of a wider team to ensure the little boy's health, well-being and development are supported
He is very creative and imaginative, so joining him in his interests, engaging his imagination, and gently introducing new interests will be important
Potentially assist with some family assistant-style duties (such as occasional errands, helping with logistics and itineraries for the boy etc)
Working with the team to build on successes and to learn from behaviours.
Requirements
A consistently kind, gentle and empathetic approach, while also confident setting clear and consistent boundaries
Honesty and integrity, and a willingness to learn
Professional (or possibly personal) experience supporting children with autism
Experience working with school-aged children
Calm and patient personality, with a warm and positive approach
A confident swimmer
MUST be able to travel regularly to the US
MUST be legally able to work in the US and the UK
Preferably some kind of qualification in special/autism
Extremely reliable and punctual, and a proactive approach to the boy's care and development
Excellent communicator
A nurturing, down-to-earth personality with a 'pitch-in' attitude
Salary and Benefits
From £75,000 gross pa
