Caretaker - Chelsea
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join a well-established primary school in Chelsea, starting ASAP. This is a key role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The school prides itself on its inclusive and supportive ethos, and the caretaker plays a crucial part in ensuring that the school site is secure, well-maintained, and compliant with health and safety standards. You will work closely with the school leadership and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of daily school routines.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the school premises are safe, clean, and well-maintained
Carry out minor maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements as required
Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and other building systems
Open and close the school, including securing buildings and grounds
Assist with the organisation and setup of school events and activities
Monitor and manage school equipment and supplies
Liaise with contractors and service providers as required
Report any hazards, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly
Support the implementation of health, safety, and security policies
Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain a positive and safe environment
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience in a caretaker, facilities, or maintenance role
Be reliable, proactive, and hands-on
Have practical skills for minor repairs and building maintenance
Be organised and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Be committed to health and safety standards
Have good communication skills and work well as part of a team
