Caretaker - Chelsea

Marchant Recruitment
London

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join a well-established primary school in Chelsea, starting ASAP. This is a key role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The school prides itself on its inclusive and supportive ethos, and the caretaker plays a crucial part in ensuring that the school site is secure, well-maintained, and compliant with health and safety standards. You will work closely with the school leadership and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of daily school routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the school premises are safe, clean, and well-maintained

  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvements as required

  • Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and other building systems

  • Open and close the school, including securing buildings and grounds

  • Assist with the organisation and setup of school events and activities

  • Monitor and manage school equipment and supplies

  • Liaise with contractors and service providers as required

  • Report any hazards, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly

  • Support the implementation of health, safety, and security policies

  • Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain a positive and safe environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in a caretaker, facilities, or maintenance role

  • Be reliable, proactive, and hands-on

  • Have practical skills for minor repairs and building maintenance

  • Be organised and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • Be committed to health and safety standards

  • Have good communication skills and work well as part of a team

The school is located in Chelsea, with excellent transport links and a supportive community. Staff benefit from a friendly working environment, clear guidance from leadership, and opportunities to contribute to the smooth running of the school. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with their hands and ensuring a school environment is welcoming and safe for all.

How to Apply

Please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
