Assistant Musical Director

We are looking for an Assistant Musical Director for SIX at the Vaudeville Theatre. The AMD is responsible for supporting the Musical Director in all aspects of the show's running, including but not limited to conducting the show from the keyboard when required, noting the cast and band, and the day-to-day running of the music department. It is a requirement that the successful candidate plays from memory. SIX has an incredible on-stage band made up of exclusively female and non-binary musicians. Person Specification: Essential Skills Demonstrable professional experience as an Assistant Musical Director on a long-running production; Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a West End production; Excellent keyboard skills including pop, RnB and groove playing, as well as rehearsal accompaniment; Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail; Ability to work both as a part of a team and in a leadership role. Job Description: To provide support and cover to the Musical Director and support all elements of musical activity in relation to the West End Production; To be present in the Vaudeville Theatre for eight show calls a week and for any rehearsals or note sessions scheduled in line with the hours covered by your contract; To perform the musical director/keys chair during performances of the West End Production as scheduled on a weekly basis; To lead the cast in a vocal warm up prior to performances of the West End Production as required; To conduct show watches of the West End Production if requested by the Musical Director; To assist with the creative maintenance of the music on the West End Production in liaison with the Musical Supervisor, UK Musical Supervisor and Musical Director, including providing notes to the cast and band; To lead music rehearsals of the West End Production as required; If required, to participate in rehearsals for press and marketing activities involving the West End Production and the activities themselves; If required, to support auditions for the West End Production or UK Tour Production, as an audition pianist; In exceptional circumstances we may ask you to provide emergency cover on the UK Touring production of SIX; You may be required to undertake additional duties within the scope of your role, in line with industry standards for Assistant Musical Director or as reasonably requested by the Musical Supervisor, Musical Director, Producers or General Managers.
