Senior Cabler
THE TEAM
Join JSM Group, a leading provider of integrated utility infrastructure solutions delivering complex power and communications projects across the UK and Europe. You will be part of a dynamic operational team, taking a lead role in cable installation activities and providing guidance and support to junior team members on site.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As a Senior Cabler, you will take ownership of cable installation works on site, ensuring activities are delivered safely, to programme and to the highest quality standards. You will act as a point of reference for less experienced cablers, supporting the Project Manager in the day-to-day running of cable-related operations.
This role will be contractually based out of our River Road, Barking office.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Leading and coordinating cable installation activities within assigned work streams
• Installing, routing, pulling and terminating cables to design specifications and quality standards
• Mentoring and supporting junior cablers, promoting safe working practices and best practice techniques
• Interpreting and working from complex cable route drawings, schematics and technical specifications
• Ensuring plant, equipment and materials are used effectively and available when required
• Conducting and contributing to toolbox talks, site inductions and pre-start briefings
• Ensuring compliance with NRSWA, risk assessments and method statements at all times
• Completing daily records, task-specific documentation and quality inspection reports
• Identifying and escalating any site issues, quality concerns or programme risks to the Project Manager
• Reporting all incidents, close calls and near misses in line with company procedures
WHAT IT TAKES
• Significant proven experience in cable installation across utility, power or telecoms projects
• NRSWA Streetworks operative accreditation
• CSCS or EUSR Card at the appropriate level
• Strong technical competence in all cabling methods including blowing techniques
• Reporting of blockages to A55 standards
• PIA accreditations SA002 / S006&7 (desirable)
• Confident working from drawings and specifications with good attention to detail
• Natural leader with the ability to guide and motivate others on site
• Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with supervisors and team members
• Self-motivated, reliable and adaptable, with a willingness to travel nationally
