Key activities As Business Development Manager, you will take full ownership of the business development lifecycle, driving the pursuit and winning of new contracts and projects within the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Smart Buildings space. You’ll play a key role in shaping and executing sector growth strategies, building a strong opportunity pipeline, and providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other members of the sales team. In this pivotal position, you will lead the bidding process, working closely with cross-functional teams to secure strategic wins. With significant scope for growth, this role offers the opportunity to build and lead a dedicated team in the future, aligning with the continued expansion of our BMS business. Own, develop, and manage a robust pipeline of sales opportunities to meet and exceed both personal and team sales targets over a rolling 2–3 year horizon. Deliver against individual and sector sales goals, driving sustainable growth in line with business objectives. Shape and promote sector strategy plans, ensuring they evolve to reflect changing market dynamics and customer needs. Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively developing a healthy pipeline and high win rates. Create long-term value for Equans Smart Buildings by driving growth across clients, markets, and strategic relationships. Develop and deliver sector strategy and business plans, including new service offerings and market expansion initiatives. Analyse industry trends and work closely with sales and technical teams to identify customer needs and develop innovative solutions. Skills, qualifications & experience Degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience in relevant BMS systems Solid Business Development with a strong understanding of Building Management Systems Preferred experience with multisite and mixed-use building space. Required strong familiarity with building technologies such as HVAC, lighting, energy, etc.; Systems Integration experience is a plus. Broad awareness of the smart buildings sector: key drivers and challenges, key players, and the government policy and regulatory environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build/develop relationships, internally as well as externally.
