PMLD Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a caring and dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex needs, helping them to access learning and develop essential life skills. Starting ASAP.

Duties as PMLD Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with PMLD.

• Assist with personal care and medical needs as required.

• Support students in accessing a broad, sensory-based curriculum.

• Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning plans.

• Use communication aids and sensory resources to engage pupils.

• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Ideal PMLD Teaching Assistant:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (experience with PMLD is desirable but not essential).

• A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Willingness to assist with personal care and moving/handling.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills as a PMLD Teaching Assistant.
