A vibrant and inclusive large mixed comprehensive school - Havering is seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join its successful English department from September . This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for a teacher who is passionate about literature, language, and developing pupils’ confidence in reading, writing, and communication.

About the Role

The role requires strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Supporting pupils’ development in reading, writing, and analytical skills
Preparing pupils for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations
Monitoring pupil progress and providing clear, structured feedback
Encouraging a love of reading through varied and stimulating lesson content
Supporting extracurricular activities such as reading groups or drama clubs
Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development
Creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Have strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Be confident teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4
Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills
Be able to motivate pupils and encourage a love of reading and writing
Work effectively as part of a collaborative department
Be committed to professional development and improving outcomes
