Job Title: Process & Debt Recovery Officer
Location: Havering (Office-based with some home working available)
Salary: 18.92 hour PAYE
Term: Temp, initially 3 months
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a dynamic Process & Debt Recovery Officer to become part of a vibrant Highways, Traffic & Parking team. This role presents an exciting chance for an individual with exceptional customer service skills who thrives on problem-solving, investigating cases, and making fair, evidence-based decisions.
Key Responsibilities
In this engaging position, the successful candidate will:
- Investigate and respond to parking-related challenges, representations, and appeals.
- Review evidence and make decisions in line with legislation and council policies.
- Handle customer enquiries via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Manage Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) processes from issue through to resolution.
- Process debt recovery cases and liaise with enforcement agents as needed.
- Prepare documentation and evidence packs for London Tribunals and court proceedings.
- Support permit applications and general parking administration.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy while adhering to service targets and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
Our client is looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience in parking, debt recovery, enforcement, or a customer service environment.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to draught professional responses.
- Comfort in dealing with challenging or sensitive customer situations.
- The ability to assess evidence, make balanced decisions, and follow legislation and procedures.
- Excellent organisation skills to manage a busy workload effectively.
- A keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable Experience
Candidates with the following backgrounds will be particularly attractive:
- Parking enforcement or parking administration.
- Knowledge of PCN processes or debt recovery procedures.
- Experience in a target-driven environment.
Qualifications
- A City & Guilds Assured Notice Processing qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, with a commitment to obtain it within six months if not held.
