Introduction
Are you an experienced arboriculture professional with a strong understanding of urban tree management? Do you have the confidence to monitor contracts, manage competing priorities and provide sound technical advice? Are you comfortable using data, mapping systems and reports to support good decision-making? If so, this is an opportunity to help protect, manage and enhance Lewisham’s trees for the benefit of residents, communities and the wider environment.
What’s the role?
As Tree Services Officer, you will support the delivery of Lewisham’s tree management service, helping to preserve and enhance the borough’s tree stock. You will inspect trees, monitor tree management contracts, support project delivery, maintain tree-related data and provide professional advice on operational, insurance, risk and resident enquiries. You will also work closely with contractors, council colleagues, elected members and community stakeholders to ensure the service is safe, responsive and well managed
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with a recognised arboriculture qualification and a strong understanding of tree management in an urban environment. You will bring experience of working with contractors and partners, monitoring service standards and supporting improvement. You will be organised, able to manage deadlines and confident preparing reports, briefings and written responses. You will also be able to communicate clearly with a wide range of people, including residents, colleagues, elected members and external organisations
Location
The job is primarily based in Lewisham, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. The role will also involve site visits across the borough as part of the inspection, monitoring and delivery of the tree service.
