You will collaborate closely with traders, senior analysts, and data/technology partners to interpret global fuel oil fundamentals, track physical and paper flows, and identify evolving market dislocations across regions and grades.

What you will do

Responsibilities:

Strategic Analytics & Market Leadership

  • Lead analytical coverage for High Sulfur Fuel Oil, Low Sulfur Fuel Oil, and other feedstocks, shaping market views across key trading regions.
  • Develop and maintain cross regional perspectives, supporting multi desk trading strategies.

Fundamentals, Balances & Forecasting

  • Build and maintain global and regional Fuel Oil supply, demand, and blending models.
  • Track refinery runs, crack spreads, residue production, desulfurization trends, bunker demand, and utilities consumption.
  • Forecast balances and identify market dislocations using proprietary data, third party sources, vessel tracking, and refinery databases.

Trading Strategy Support

  • Collaborate with traders to assess market risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver timely insights via dashboards, weekly presentations, and structured strategy discussions.
  • Propose trade ideas grounded in market fundamentals, flows, and structural trends.

Data Infrastructure & Visualization

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and analytical tools in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Partner with developers to enhance data ingestion, querying performance, and automation for real-time analytics.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare weekly and monthly market reports, lead discussions on macroeconomic trends, and present market views to senior stakeholders across trading and management teams.

Cross-functional & Global Collaboration

  • Liaise with global trading offices in Houston and Singapore to align market views and support portfolio decisions.
  • Engage with physical and derivative desks to ensure a holistic understanding of market dynamics.

What you bring

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A degree in Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or a similar quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in Fuel Oil or feedstocks market analytics—preferably within a trading or commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of global fuel oil flows, refining systems, bunker markets, and commodity pricing mechanisms.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI for analytics and visualization.
  • Experience developing supply/demand models and trading dashboards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex analytical insights clearly.
  • A proactive, detail‑oriented mindset, thriving in fast-paced, high-pressure trading environments.
  • Exposure to trading, physical cargo operations, and refinery economics is highly desirable.
