An exciting opportunity has arisen , we are looking for a Clinical Service Lead to provide day-to-day operational management and clinical leadership to our Perinatal Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of the staff who work in these teams; for the performance management of the services in terms of quality, finance, human resource management and governance. There will be opportunities to lead on service development and QI projects. The successful candidate will be experienced in working with external partners and have energy, drive and enthusiasm for working in a complex environment.

The multi-disciplinary team composition is as follows: Clinical Service Lead, Team Managers, Lead Consultant, Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Psychologists and Psychotherapists, Specialist Nurses, Nursery Nurses, Social Worker, Occupational Therapists, Peer Support Workers, a Specialist Mental Health Midwife & administrative staff.

Applications are welcome from individuals who do not have experience of working in Perinatal Services but can demonstrate transferrable skills. Working alongside the Lead Consultant, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Team Leaders, it is a great opportunity for candidates who have been working at Band 7 and are looking to take the next step in their career development or those who are looking to expand their experience in a community setting.

The clinicians assess and review clients in a number of clinic venues in the service catchment area, including the three hospitals where there are maternity services (St George’s Hospital, St Helier’s Hospital and Kingston Hospital) The Medical, Nursing, Psychology and Psychotherapy members of the multidisciplinary team are organised in three sub-teams with a geographically defined clinical remit (Wandsworth sub-team, Merton and Sutton sub-team, Kingston and Richmond sub-team). The Occupational Therapists, and Social Worker are shared across all three sub-teams.

Integrated in to the Perinatal Mental Health Service is the Perinatal Trauma and Loss Team (PTLT). Delivering a holistic, personalised, and trauma-informed care pathway within and outside of the service, the team also outreach into local maternity services and establish close working relationships with primary care services.

About our locations:

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are now opening. Springfield is close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

• To communicate effectively with staff through regular briefings and provide opportunities for staff involvement in service development.

• To communicate policies and procedures within the service, with partners and externally to ensure effective understanding and implementation

• To communicate complex service-related information to senior managers, partners and relevant stakeholders using a variety of methods including, reports, presentations etc.

• To maintain effective and helpful relationships with service users, their relatives, friends and carers.

• To maintain effective relationships with members of the Trust, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

• To be responsible for the regular review and updating of the service’s operational policy.

• To contribute to the on-going development and evaluation of services in relation to need, local and national quality standards and target frameworks.

• To ensure that partners are involved in service development and that developments within the third sector are accounted for in developing the service.

• To work with service users, carers and other local stakeholders to tackle health inequalities.

• To ensure all service developments and commissioned services function within the parameters outlined by clinical governance requirements.

• To participate in the development and implementation of Trust policy within the service and take an active role in all operational and business planning.

• To ensure safeguarding vulnerable adults and children policy and protocols are adhered to.

• To plan and co-ordinate service review activities and to deliver, with inpatient colleagues, a programme of regular audit and continuous service improvement.

• To lead the community engagement programme and delivery of tailored and co-produced services for key priority population groups.

• To use integrated management information systems to ensure resources are managed effectively.

• To ensure all members of the team are recording clinical and patient management information using IAPTus and RiO, as required.

• To undertake regular skill mix review to ensure the workforce structure is designed to meet service demands.

• To apply structured management for safe and effective use of all resources within budget and within legislative frameworks.

• To lead on the data analysis (via RIO) and collation monthly and quarterly CCG and Trust performance reports, as required.
