Director of Compliance - Leading International Law Firm

Our client is leading international law firm headquartered in the UK which has achieved significant expansion and year-on-year growth thanks to its focussed strategy. The firm has an extensive network of offices globally.

The firm is looking for an experienced law firm risk & compliance professional to join as Director of Compliance. Reporting to and working closely with the firm’s General Counsel, who is also the firm’s COLP, you will take a lead in managing the firm’s risk, and compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations, supported by a team of compliance specialists.

The focus of the role will be on new client and matter onboarding, covering conflicts, confidentiality, AML and sanctions, as well domestic and international regulatory compliance, support of client framework agreements, risk management training, insurance and business continuity.

The role’s key responsibilities will include, among other things, management of the risk and compliance team, undertaking the role of MLRO, conducting firmwide risk assessments, supporting the COLP and COFA, membership of the firm’s ethics and risk committee, reviewing and maintaining relevant commercial documentation and working with the learning and development team to deliver appropriate risk and compliance training across the firm.

Our client is looking for someone with leadership, management and people skills who can work effectively with the senior leadership team and colleagues at all levels and will work sensitively across diverse cultures. International experience will be a real advantage. Ideally you will have gained your experience in a leading international law firm or other professional services environment.
