Dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant Required in Acton – Supporting Children to Thrive

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant based in Acton, you will support pupils with identified additional needs across the school day. These needs may include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH), or general learning difficulties.
You may be assigned to support a pupil on a one-to-one basis , work with small intervention groups , or provide in-class support to ensure pupils remain engaged and supported throughout lessons. Your role will be practical, hands-on, and highly relational, requiring patience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
This is not a desk-based role. You will be actively involved in classroom activities, emotional regulation strategies, playground support, and structured learning interventions, all while working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored learning and emotional support to pupils with SEN
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual education plans
Support pupils with communication, attention, and engagement in lessons
Assist with behaviour regulation using positive and consistent approaches
Adapt classroom resources to meet individual learning needs
Support social development during unstructured times such as break and lunch
Monitor progress and report observations to teaching staff and SENCOs
Help pupils develop independence and confidence over time
Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Some roles may involve personal care or mobility support, depending on pupil needs. Full guidance and training will be provided where required.
