Our aesthetic is rooted in the whimsical, dark romantic, and esoteric — think celestial motifs, folk magic, alchemical symbols, dreamy botanicals, and vintage occult references. We're looking for someone who can turn these inspirations into captivating, wearable designs that enchant and empower.

As part of the Women’s Woven Dresses team, you’ll help drive the creation of unique, trend-led designs that infuse each seasonal collection with a feminine and elevated grunge edge which is defined by unconventional silhouettes, textured layers and fabrics. Refined yet rebellious detailing shapes our brand’s identity. We are looking for someone who consistently defies expectations, not just by meeting goals, but by reimagining what's possible.

This is the perfect opportunity for a passionate, motivated, highly creative junior designer, looking to further their career. This role would be ideal for a design assistant looking to step into the next phase of their career or a current junior designer looking to move into a dynamic and alternative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • An understanding of the brand aesthetic, customer demographic and brand competitors.
  • Is aware of the push and pull design factors behind sales. Experience with design and development of original silhouettes, details, and fabric treatments. · Translating mystical and esoteric themes into fresh, wearable designs.
  • Bringing design concepts to life through detailed technical garment packs and refined size charts, ensuring the creative vision is carried seamlessly through to production.
  • Supporting seasonal concept development through mood boards and research
  • Collaborating and partnering closely with the buying, print and tech production teams to ensure garment quality and alignment across collections.
  • Design with awareness of price architecture, margins, and market pricing.
  • Support in the product development from sampling to production, working in line with critical path and deadlines.
  • Liaising with global factories and across departments within the business.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of fabrications, trim detailing, and pattern making and construction to lead creative design, to partake in conversation on garment fitting and sample amendments.
  • Keeping up with niche fashion trends, folkloric references, symbolic art and alternative subculture social calendars.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for what Disturbia is aiming to achieve as an organisation and the ability to be decisive, open and specific, whilst promoting acceptance, inclusion and respect.

They should be an organised, fast learner and be dynamic in their approach as they will need to react quickly to an ever-evolving business.

Finally, they will be charismatic and confident, happy interacting with different teams and project requirements.

Profile:

  • At least 3 years' experience in womenswear design
  • A portfolio that shows a love for whimsigoth, hedgewitch and darkly romantic-inspired themes with a passion for alternative fashion, folklore, the occult and mythological themes.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, CAD, Microsoft Office, and Photoshop.
  • An excellent technical understanding of garment design, fabrication and fit.
  • Excellent knowledge of our market sector and trend awareness.
  • Competency using a Wacom tablet
  • A meticulous eye for attention to detail, garment flow, colour palettes, and storytelling through design.
  • Ability to balance creative expression with commercial awareness.
  • Confident working within a fast-paced environment, with agile and competent communication skills.
  • Creative and curious — you love exploring new visual languages and weaving stories into your work
  • Strong communicator — able to share ideas clearly and take on feedback with openness and positivity
  • Highly organised — able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without losing attention to detail
  • Team-oriented — you enjoy collaborating, contributing ideas, and supporting others in a close-knit team
  • Self-motivated and adaptable — comfortable working independently, showing initiative, and adapting to a growing brand’s needs
  • Passionate and aligned — you resonate with our brand’s vision and aesthetic, and bring that energy to everything you do
  • A degree in Fashion Design or a related field is beneficial
  • Experience within a dresses department across wovens and jersey is beneficial
  • Graphic design, 3D design, and PLM experience is beneficial
