Job Description

As a Technical Artist at Entain's In-House Studios, your primary objective is to seamlessly blend art and technology to elevate our gaming experiences. Specialising in technical integration and game animations, you will be instrumental in bringing our game worlds to life with fluid and captivating visuals. While proficiency in tools like Spine is preferred, the focus will be on your skills in rigging, environment design, and lighting/composition, which are transferable across various software packages.

  • Collaborate closely with Artists, Game Designers, and Developers to integrate art assets into the game engine while ensuring optimal performance and visual fidelity.
  • Use your expertise in rigging and FK/IK techniques to create dynamic character animations, environment effects, and user interface animations that enhance gameplay immersion.
  • Develop and maintain efficient pipelines for importing, exporting, and optimising art assets within the game engine, maximising productivity and workflow efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to art asset implementation and animation performance, providing timely solutions to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Conduct research and experimentation with new techniques and tools in game animation and technical art, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement animation standards, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects.
  • Provide guidance and support to other studio artists and team members on technical aspects of asset creation and animation implementation, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in design and development meetings, offering insights and recommendations to enhance the overall visual quality and performance of our games.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • 3+ years of experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on technical art and animation
  • Experience with Spine animations
  • Proficiency in animation techniques such as rigging and FK/IK, with the ability to apply these skills across various animation software packages
  • Solid understanding of game engines and their integration processes, including shader development, scripting, and optimisation techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical team members

Nice to have:

  • Experience with 3D software
  • Exposure to agile methodologies and the ability to adapt to fast-paced development environments.
  • Knowledge of environment design principles, lighting, and composition, with a focus on maintaining consistency and visual coherence across projects.
  • Passion for video games and a keen eye for visual storytelling and game design principles.
